FUN FACTS ABOUT BURNING DESIRES

 

– Burning Desires had quite a roundabout journey from original idea to finished first draft. It was inspired in 2019 when I sat down to write a young adult story. I had the name Teeth, after the 5 Seconds of Summer song that I absolutely love, but the ideas that came flooding to my mind were anything but young adult. So, I put the ideas aside and let them percolate.

– More ideas came forth in early 2020, but with other writing obligations, I wrote the ideas down and put them aside to continue percolating with the others. I finished off And Always, the last novel in the Porn Star Brothers family saga and dealt with burnout, then, in 2021, I was given the idea for another novel, which resulted in a secondary idea for its sequel. Two months later, I was given the idea for Anything for You.

– In 2022, I started writing the first of the new novels in the duology, but switched to Anything for You, and once it was released pulled out my plotlines and ideas for other books and came back to the few ideas I’d had for Teeth, which had turned into a trilogy as I’d been considering two other titles for sequels. However, once a million new ideas for Teeth started flowing, and I’d written out the plotlines for all three novellas, I realised it may end up turning into one novel. So, I took the series title I’d come up with, Burning Desires, and named it that, giving the book three sections to represent the titles I’d had for the novellas. Teeth was changed to Taste to fit in with the plot, and Crave and Burn followed.

– The band in the beginning of the book is inspired by 5 Seconds of Summer, and the reporter is inspired by Angela Bishop, a stalwart of Australian entertainment media.

– As I was binge watching the first two seasons of Ted Lasso (yes, Jason Sudeikis again) in 2022, I fell head over heels in sexual animalistic lust with Brett Goldstein and his character of Roy Kent (I mean, who didn’t, amiright!?) and the two of them inspired the two main male characters. Brett Goldstein became hot as fuck clean cut detective Drew Reilly, and Roy Kent became sexy as fuck band manager Rex Titus, and both want a relationship with club owner, Remi Steele. And yes, I kept their body hair intact which I find incredibly sexually attractive. There’s even a sex scene where Remi’s with one of them, and while he’s in her curls she’s fucking his…

– As a nod to Brett Goldstein, I named one of my characters, a CSI, Bob Kenner, after SUPERBOB, the cripplingly shy postal worker turned reluctant superhero that Brett co-wrote and played in the movie of the same name. I loved it and highly recommend watching it.
